The Early Years:
Texas and Houston's
Hip-Hop Scene

DJ Ready Cee's career in Hip-Hop began in Texas in the early 1980s. By the early '90s, he transitioned into a professional artist, performing at live venues and festivals and hosting Hip-Hop events in Houston from 1990 to 1996. His work earned him the 'Best HipHop DJ 1994' award from The Houston Press 'Best Of The Best' awards. He also appeared on vinyl for the first time, performing cuts and scratch hooks on the album Black Youth by producer Sean Blaze. In 1996, he moved to The Bronx, New York City, to further his career and established his own label, ReadyMade Productions, to focus on beat making. A year later, his group The Wyld Bunch released a 12-inch vinyl single, "The Untold Truth," which has since become a cult classic.

NYC Radio
& Production

In 1998, Ready Cee co-created The Underground Lockdown radio show on WHUT 91.9FM in New York City with DJs SNUU and Yooter (Heavy Hitters). After they parted ways, he continued with The Ready Cee Show for nearly eight years. The show became an iconic part of underground Hip-Hop radio in NYC, featuring interviews with notable artists such as Kool Herc, Grandmaster Caz, MF DOOM, and many others.

His success also led to guest DJ spots on WNYU 89.1 FM's The Halftime Show with DJ Eclipse. In addition to radio, Ready Cee has released over 100 mixtapes, with his work being sponsored and sold by Fat Beats Records in their NYC and Los Angeles stores until 2010. His production credits include El Gant's 2001 debut album and Shabaam Sahdeeq's 2014 album, Keepers Of The Lost Art, which won 'Album of The Year' at the 2014 Underground Music Awards. Ready Cee himself was named 'DJ of The Year' at the 11th annual Underground Music Awards in 2014.

featuring an all-star cast of artists like Homeboy Sandman, AG of DITC, and Termanology. The album sold out twice on Underground Hiphop.com and is available on major digital platforms worldwide. He also launched a sold-out monthly Hip-Hop showcase in NYC with Shabaam Sahdeeq called 'It's Alive'. In 2016, he and DJ Mixx joined BEATMINERZ RADIO to create the weekly Ready Cee & Mixx Show

Shabaam Sahdeeq’s Timeless: of the Collection (2016) is a gritty,
16-track boom-bap opus that channels the raw essence of Hip-Hop. The LP is a sonic showcase, with beats crafted by an all-star lineup including Nick Wiz, J57, DJ Doom, and the indefatigable DJ Ready Cee, who brings his signature punch to “It’s a Must” and anchors the project in that classic, head-nodding vibe. Sahdeeq delivers razor-sharp lyrics over these hard-hitting backdrops, weaving timeless bars with heavy-hitter production—making it not just a collection, but a testament to the enduring heartbeat of Hip-Hop.
